Plains’ Special Needs Outreach
Our Special Needs outreach, known at Plains as Lighthouse Ministry, is tailored to help families with members of all ages and ranges of needs to relax and enjoy Sunday Worship.
We understand that sometimes it can be a challenge to simply sit through a worship service while having to minister to the physical or emotional needs of these special members of the Body of Christ. We have protocols in place and trained volunteers from our congregation who want to serve you and your family so that you can enjoy a Sunday worship service without interruption. Some of the special services that we offer during Sunday morning worship to families with special needs are:
- Buddy System – Members of our congregation are trained to team up with visitors and members who have special needs, spending valuable time with them in a special controlled environment, freeing family members to have a relaxing time of fellowship, worship and study if they so desire.
- Pager System – During every service, we have at least two members on call to help anyone in the congregation who needs assistance with a special needs situation. The members’ names and cell phone numbers are posted in the foyer of our Christian Life Center, and are available for anyone in need.
In addition, Lighthouse Ministry offers Respite Nights for families who are touched by disability. The dates for the 2019 Calendar year are February 1, April 12, August 2, and December 6.
If you have a specific question about our Special Needs Ministry – how it works, how it can meet you needs, how you can avail yourself of it – please contact the church office or use the form to your right. We’ll get back to you soon.
